I finally got around to uploading my pictures from the show. Some of them are really good, which makes a huge change form normal since I'm usually behind the tallest guy there and he's decided to wear a hat. Not this time though. Yay!

So, pictures!

And the rest... )

So, the Def Leppard show was amazing. We were right at the front. The front row! The view was incredible.

Right now I'm pretty exhausted, so there is a danger of this pose becoming one long, run on paragraph punctuated with random squeeing and exclamation marks, but I'll try not to!

Not only is Kerrang currently playing Def Leppard (PSSOM, oh yeah!) they have a completion to win a chance to meet the0 by answering a ridiculously easy question. Unfortunately, I'm far too cheap to enter knowing that at last 65% of the population knows the answer off the top of their heads, and the other 35% could find it out online...

I might enter tomorrow. After all, chances were against me getting tickets for Live8 and I still did, so, y'know...

I'm loving this weather! And I got paid the other day, which makes stuff even better. So yay! For once, I'm in a great mood. Also, I spent all last night customising my desktop and Mozilla, Def Leppard themes all round! Why? Well I kinda felt like it... Okay so I pretty much just downloaded already made themes and changed them a bit, but I think I might do my own when I can be bothered. That'll be fun. Working 6-10 today, so I get to enjoy the sunshine first. Milly's not loving it quite as much though, the poor dog is just laying around the house looking too hot.

I've never really bothered with MSTing before. Even though some stories are just asking for it, it seems unnecessarily cruel to the person who wrote the story. A friend of mine sent me a link today though, that I just had to read. A really awful Def Leppard fic where the MSTer has inserted the band making comments. It is literally one of the funniest things I've ever read. Read it. Even if you hate MSTings, hate Def Leppard and don't even like to read. You'll find it here. Go now. Seriously. Right now.

Well, everything went fine for my mum's birthday. I managed to get her a present, went halves with Jennie to get her a singing bowl and some incense. I put Jen in charge of the cake, but it apparently went a little wrong, so they bought an apple pie instead!

I had to get up at 7 yesterday to go to work, after getting to bed late the night before and then being woken up at who knows when because Jennie didn't have her key. So I was pretty exhausted all day. I worked 9-8, having tried and failed to get sent home early. Went out for Chinese food with mum, dad and Jennie after, then got home and decided to go to Spiders with Jennie. Probably not the best of ideas considering how much I really wanted to go to sleep, but I ate some pro plus instead. It was a good night though, I ended up talking about sci-fi and comics for ages, which is always fun! Couldn't get a taxi home of course, so we ended up walking for about half an hour before we got one. No idea what time we got home, it was starting to get light though. Then just as I was about to go to bed, Jennie said "Know what we should watch? That Def Leppard film," She was talking about a 'Hysteria: The Def Leppard story'. It's a made for TV movie about Def Leppard that I taped a few years ago. Not that good tobe honest, but I still kinda like it. Being an idiot, I agreed and went to hunt it out. So we munched crisps and watched that until we both nearly fell asleep and decided to give up. That was about 5. So I was up for like 22 hours yesterday. And very little of it was spend sitting around doing nothing. Very exhausting! Might have to watch the rest of the film today.

So, long story short, I'm very tired today!

I think I'm going to go and watch ReGenesis now.

Misheard lyrics

I love misheard lyrics! They are so funny!

Most likely I've posted this before and forgotten, but in case I didn't or if anyone new is interested...

I first read the Def Leppard Hysterical document a few years ago, and me and my sister spend hours laughing our heads off (almost literally) at some of the misheard lyrics there. Some of my favourites:

Song: Fractured Love
Actual: "Iron fist in a velvet glove"
Heard: "I pissed in a velvet glove"

Song: Photograph
Actual: "You've gone straight to my head"
Heard: "Your gum sticks to my hair"

Song: Armageddon It
Actual: "Armageddon it"
Heard: "I'm an idiot"

Song: Hysteria
Actual: "Oh, I get hysterical, hysteria"
Heard: "Oh, I'm a stereo, a stereo"

Song: Wasted
Actual: "I've got a bottle of pills to give me my thrills"
Heard: "I've got a bottle of pills, won't you give me my clothes?"

You get the idea. If you want to see the rest check out Hysterical, here.

There is also KissThisGuy, with misheard lyrics from just about every artist and band you can think of. Well, maybe not, but still lots. Some of them seem kinda obviously fake though...
The reason for the randomness of this post by the way, is that I just re-found Hysterical, and spend a further half hour giggling at that section, and so felt the need to share. Sorry!

Edit: Yay, found even more! AmIRight.com

Also, I sliced my finger open last night trying to get into a bottle of beer using a teaspoon. I managed it though. Those travel lodge things should provide bottle openers. Yeah, I know they don't provide bottles so it'd be weird, but who cares.

Def Leppard

Oh my god how good was that?!

I was so close to the front!! It was absolutely fucking amazing. And they did all my favourite songs! We kind of cheated with the getting to the front, because we got delayed and turned up just a few minutes before the opened the doors, and then they diverted the back of out queue through another door, so we got in a lot quicker than people who had probably been there longer. We ended up maybe ten or so heads from the front. Which was strange, because the tickets we got were rear standing, and they were selling front standing too. But maybe they decided not to bother with that, because there was no barrier or anything. So yeah, I was so close!

Right now I'm still too much in "Omnygodijustsawdefleppardlive" mode to say anything intelligent or probably even understandable. But it was probably the best show I've ever seen. And not to be mean or anything, but I'm so glad they stuck to the Yeah! and the classics, I still don't much like X...

Also, Sav's base solo, wow, that was so great! I've never heard anything like it, it was just really haunting and beautiful. And the applause and cheers when Joe introduced Rick Allen, I thought it was going to go on forever. He looked a little overwhelmed by it. I thought I was probably wrong, but everyone over on the Def Leppard message board were saying the same thing. Oh, and Rick just grinned, like all the time. All the way through. Every time I looked at him he had this huge grin on his face. And it goes without saying really, but Joe sounded amazing. And since I've not mentioned them yet, Phil and Viv rocked too, of course.

I wish I'd stuck around, apparently Phil and Rick came out later and signed autographs. Still, next time... Because Joe did promise us "There will be a next time"

Aw. Now it's over, and those lucky gits who're going to London will still have it to come. This "next time" better be soon!

Well, I've got tomorrow off work, so I'm going down to Bristol with my mum to pick Jennie up from uni. And show off my Def Leppard T-shirt to a new town!

Yay!
