I've just spent the better part of an hour helping my dad set up his new iPhone. Which it much less time than it took me to help my mum set hers up. I don't get it, mine worked with no problems.

Got there in the end though, and my dad has finally joined this decade with my mum's old 5s instead of the very slow 3s he had been using for the last fifty years (approximately). I heard a rumour that he's going to change his contract so he has some data too, which would be nice because as it is, he can only receive iMessages when he has wifi, and apple, not being that smart, default sends iMessage to anyone with an iPhone, meaning that every time I text him, I have to change the settings on my phone if I want to be sure that he'll get it. Or else if he's at work, the shops, walking the dog, anywhere but at home, it just disappears into the ether.

In other news, I ran the branch today and there were no major disasters. A few minor ones, but so far so good. Four more days of being the boss to go... (and so much that can still go wrong!)

I'm in countdown mode to new Game of Thrones. T minus six minutes and counting. Although I'm going to watch it a bit late so I can fast forward the adverts.

Well, I didn't get much writing done this bank holiday. I tidied my room yesterday morning, planning on doing that and then writing in the afternoon, but then my niece turned up and I ended up having to entertain her instead, so I spent the afternoon watching the Postman Pat movie and covering in. Never mind.

Today, my mum suggested going to Cleethorpes since the weather was decent, so her, me, my sister and my niece did that. Unfortunately, when we got there it was flying ant day, and all around the boating lake was swarming with them! Ick! Luckily the beach wasn't infested so we made a fairly epic sandcastle, did a bit of paddling and ate some sandwiches, then went for a wonder down the front, got an ice-cream and had a go on the big wheel. Then we caught the land train back in the other direction and went home.

There was this guy on the train who was talking to us, well mostly to my mum. He had a fairly epic Yorkshire accent, it reminded my of my nana. He was from Rotherham, not Sheffield, but they are so close together the accent is pretty much the same. My mum's lost a lot of her accent, but this guy still picked up on it and asked if she was from Sheffield. But he spoke proper Yorkshire dialect. I don't think I've heard someone say thee and tha' since my nana died. I was just wearing jeans and a t-shirt and he had a big coat on, so he asked me "Is tha' not cawd?" I love it.

Anyway, I did finally get my story checked over for errors and posted tonight. I umm'ed and ah'ed over the title for hours though. I'm still not sure about it. I hate when I can't think of a title. Sometimes they just come to you and you know they're perfect, other times it's a real struggle to come up with a name. Anyway, it's done now.

Game of Thrones in about ten minutes, so no more writing tonight.

I'm officially hooked on Game of Thrones.

I'm considering giving the books a try, but I have been reliably informed that they are difficult, confusing and need more re-reads than the Wheel of Time. But I do need something new to read, so it might be worth a go, especially since unless the story is drastically different, having seen the show should help me out.

Typically, as it had now been cancelled, I'm really starting to like Stargate Universe. I've just seen the McKay episode, and obviously that was bound to endear it to me, anything with David Hewlett in automatically becomes awesome, but the stories are becoming much more engaging and much more human, and they even put in a bit of humour in the previous episode. Not so much in the McKay episode, oddly, could have done with a few more laughs, but they were in there.

While on the subject of cancelled shows, I've just seen an advert for the new episodes of Caprica. That's a series that should never have been cancelled, it was fascinating from the start and okay it was very different from Battlestar Galactica, but it was awesome in a totally different. I'm looking forward to the new episodes, but it's going to be bittersweet, knowing that's it.
